Andrew Johnson

Constituency:Staff, Clinical
elected to the: Council of Governors

I was pleased to be elected to the Council of Governors for a second term as one of our Staff Clinical Governors, and I thank you for the support and encouragement that you have shown to me so far in my role. I have worked for the Trust since 2003 in a variety of clinical teams, in both learning disabilities and adult mental health, and I am currently employed as a Health Support Worker at Becklin Centre Ward Five. Through well-developed trade union links – I have a separate role as a UNISON steward – and by regular attendance at Staffside meetings, I keep my ear to the ground.

You will know that in broad terms, the role the Council of Governors is focussed on holding members of the Trust’s Non-Executive Directors to account, and to act as ambassadors for Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust. I hope that you will feel that I have had some success at this on your behalf, particularly during a time when health service staff members face the competing pressures of greater demand for services, increasing professional scrutiny and a climate unprecedented organisational change.

My commitment to you as constituents and clinicians is that I will continue to be a strong, connected and accountable voice for you at governor level, able to draw on my trade union experience and sound knowledge of clinical services across LYPFT in order to best represent you and to promote your interests. I strongly encourage clinical staff in Leeds, York and North Yorkshire to approach the Council of Governors with any concerns, questions and comments and to continue to engage with their established trade union and Staffside forums
