Alex Cowman

Constituency:Non-clinical staff
elected to the: Council of Governors

I have worked for Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust since March 2020, as Head of Wellbeing for staff, and feel incredibly proud to now be elected as non-clinical staff governor.

I have a huge amount of passion for my workplace, the service users that we support, and our fantastic colleagues. My role within the Trust has given me great insight into the issues that really make a difference to our colleagues and service users. I believe that I can use my voice to amplify these areas, ensuring that the Trust continues to build on its supportive and inclusive workplace culture. I am passionate about reducing the stigma that can still be attached to seeking mental health support, ensuring that LYPFT is an example of what great care can look like.

My overarching aim is to do all that I can to try and make a positive difference to the lives of anyone who is living with mental health issues or learning disabilities, and the staff that support them.

The pandemic has shone an even brighter light on how integral mental health support is for the people of Leeds and York, even more so in times of crisis. This coupled with the pressures for those working throughout this time has shown us that being compassionate, ensuring that we deliver excellent care, and elevating the voices of our colleagues is more important than ever.

I am passionate about ensuring that LYPFT continue to provide the best care possible, for both our service users and our colleagues.
