Dr Monique Schelhase, Associate Specialist and Lead Clinician for the CONNECT The West Yorkshire and Harrogate Adult Eating Disorders Service chairs the Royal College of Psychiatrists Specialty and Associate Specialist (SAS) Committee.

“I have worked for LYPFT for the last 13 years and been in my current post, Associate Specialist in Eating Disorders for the last 12 years. I recently ended my role as LYPFT SAS Tutor, however I remain in my appointed role as the Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatry SAS Committee.

In addition to being the Clinical Lead for the CONNECT eating disorder service, I am a Medical Appraiser and an Approved Clinician. It is unlikely that I would have stayed in the SAS grade for as long as I have, had I not been employed by an organisation that provided me with so many varied opportunities to improve my clinical and leadership skills, and gain valuable management experience. I have always been supported by the Trust to engage in national roles and to pursue non-clinical roles while continuing with my varied clinical commitments”.
