Mindfulness-lite – 4 week course

Mindfulness means to pay attention to whatever we are doing, thinking and feeling, both emotionally and physically.  The intention is not to change anything, but to recognise our experience and relate to it.

This includes learning to let go of our need to have things a certain way, and to have compassion for ourselves.

Mindfulness can help you feel more able to cope with life’s challenges and it can be useful if you’re looking to bring more meaning to your life or relationships. It can enable you to recognise things which happen, that then trigger unhelpful feelings -so you’re better prepared to deal with them.

On this 4 week course we will:

  • Introduce you to Mindfulness and how it might help you in your life
  • Give you opportunity to try out different Mindfulness practices  including using our senses, being with nature, movement practices and being with our breath and body.
  • Exchange ideas and responses to different Mindfulness practices
  • Give you a taster of what happens on the full  8 week course which we will be running later in the year

This course is for adults (18+) who are looking to improve their mental health and wellbeing and would like to learn about mindfulness.  It is particularly suitable for those who aren’t sure if they are ready for the full 8 week course and intended as an easier course to help you dip your toe in the water!

Just a note to say if you have just experienced a recent crisis or trauma you might want to wait for a little time to pass before doing the course.  If you’ve any concerns about whether Mindfulness is for you, you are welcome to ask for a phone call with Kate our lead facilitator before the course.
