Sue White

Role: Non-executive Director, Chair of the Mental Health Legislation Committee

What I do

My role on the Board is to hold the Chief Executive and her executive team to account for the delivery of the organisation’s strategic aims and objectives. I am the Chair of the Mental Health Legislation Committee and a member of the Finance and Performance Committee.

How I contribute to improving the experience of service users and carers

By holding the executive directors to account I am able to be assured that services are provided in the most effective and efficient way.  As a member of the Finance and Performance Committee, I am able to make sure that we are in a strong position to use the money we receive in the best way we can to benefit our service users and their carers, and that we take opportunities to build a sustainable organisation able to continue to provide high quality services.

I have a passion for ensuring that the services our Trust provides are of a high quality and that service users are at the heart of everything we do.

My experience

Previously I was the Chief Executive and Company Secretary for Voluntary Action Sheffield (VAS) where I had responsibility for strategic and operational leadership and for the leadership and representation of the voluntary and community sector in the city. Before this I worked for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as the Business Development and External Affairs Director and also worked for the Department of Health as Head of Social Enterprise Unit.

I bring to the Board experience of working in the complex environment of health and social care and in building partnerships at local, regional, national and international level.

I am also a Non-executive Director for Spectrum Health Community Interest Company. It is a social enterprise which provides substance misuse, sexual health and prison health services across West Yorkshire and also the NE and NW of England.
