Dr John Barker is a consultant addiction psychiatrist in the Trust. John works as a consultant at the NHS Northern Gambling Service and also in the specialist dual-diagnosis service within Forward Leeds (COMHAD), where he is the clinical lead. John is an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds School of Medicine, where he has a formal role in developing and delivering the mental health undergraduate MHChB curriculum.

John’s clinical work involves treating both non-drug addiction and substance misuse disorders within the NHS, and he is one of only a handful of addiction psychiatrists in the UK to combine both in the scope of NHS practice.
