John joined the Trust in 2022 and works as a full-time consultant treating gambling addiction in the Northern Gambling Service, and drug and alcohol addiction in Forward Leeds. He has an interest in medical education and teaches and supervises medical students at the University of Leeds Medical School.

Within the Northern Gambling Service, John assesses, diagnoses and treats patients with gambling disorder along with mental illness and addiction co-morbidities.

Within Forward Leeds, John assesses, diagnoses and treats patients with drug and alcohol addiction and mental illness co-morbidity.

John maintains an interest in both medical education and research into gambling disorder. As a psychiatric higher trainee, he received an international prize for research into what was known about the prevalence of gambling disorder within a local drug and alcohol treatment service in South Yorkshire.
